Celebrating Women’s Golf: International Women’s Day at Omokoroa Golf Club

This past weekend, Omokoroa Golf Club celebrated International Women’s Day with a fantastic turnout of over 30 women enjoying a relaxed and social round of golf. The event welcomed a mix of experienced 18-hole players and women new to the game, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone could enjoy golf at their own pace.

A Growing Community of Women Golfers

The event highlighted the incredible growth of women’s golf at Omokoroa Golf Club. In the last six months alone, nearly 70 women new to golf have participated in our coaching programmes, with many choosing to take the next step by becoming club members. This surge in interest shows just how much demand there is for welcoming, accessible golf experiences designed to support women at all stages of their golfing journey. As our club continues to grow we are maintaining a nearly 30% holding of Female membership, a number I would like to see increase as we accelerate action into women's golf and participation for 2025.

Launching the Sunday Ladies League

One of the most exciting moments of the day was the official launch of the Sunday Ladies League, a casual 9-hole playing opportunity designed for women who want to enjoy a relaxed, social round. This new initiative is perfect for those who may not have the time to commit to club competition events but still want to get out on the course and have a competitive option, build confidence, and be part of a welcoming golf community.
